Datacenter Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Datacenter Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations / SRE team, primarily based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. You’ll be essential in managing and optimising data centers, ensuring that Ori’s HPC and AI infrastructure operates at peak performance. This role requires experience with Nvidia GPU systems, high-performance storage, and networking, as well as hands-on involvement in hardware and spares management, low-level systems maintenance, greenfield deployments, and customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Center Management: Guide data center acquisition, setup, and ongoing maintenance, fostering compliance and leveraging strong vendor partnerships.
Hardware Installation and Maintenance: Deploy and maintain HPC and AI hardware for uninterrupted operations, including performing low-level system maintenance such as hardware troubleshooting, firmware updates, and replacement of components as needed.
Network Configuration and Support: Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency network infrastructure critical for HPC and AI workloads.
Capacity Planning and Resource Allocation: Support strategic planning to align infrastructure capabilities with current and projected demands.
Troubleshooting and Support: Quickly diagnose and resolve hardware and network issues to maximise uptime.
Linux System Administration: Manage Linux-based systems, supporting optimal configuration, security, and performance.
Hardware and Spares Management: Maintain an organised inventory of hardware and spare parts to ensure rapid replacement and repairs, supporting continuous operations.
Vendor Management (RMA and Support): Manage vendor relationships, handling RMAs and support requests within Ori’s Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to meet customer contract SLAs.
Customer Support (Layer 1 and Layer 2): Work directly with customers to provide Layer 1 and Layer 2 support, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
Greenfield HPC Deployments: Participate in greenfield HPC deployments, building infrastructure from the ground up to meet project specifications.
Datacenter Environment Technologies: Oversee cooling, power distribution, and other critical data center technologies to maintain high operational standards.
Data Center Design and Operations: Contribute expertise in data center design and operational improvements to enhance resilience and efficiency.
Onsite Presence: Based primarily in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the capability to respond onsite within 1 hour.
Travel: Travel to other North American locations as needed to facilitate new deployments and conduct maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, or 10 years industry experience.
3+ years of experience in data center operations, HPC, or related roles.
Proven track record working with HPC Nvidia GPU systems, high-performance storage, and networking.
Expertise in hardware installation, network configuration, and low-level system maintenance, including hardware troubleshooting and firmware management.
Strong foundation in Linux system administration.
Knowledge of data center environment technologies, including cooling and power distribution.
Experience in data center design, greenfield deployments, and operations.
Strong understanding of hardware and spares management, with the ability to handle RMAs and support cases within defined SLOs to meet SLA requirements.
Solid understanding of HPC and AI workloads.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Willingness and ability to travel across North America for deployment and maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of private cloud solutions and capacity planning.
Certifications in relevant areas - Networking or Hardware Virtualization
Salary Range Information
Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $90K - $110k and will vary depending on the candidate's experience.
